Google Cloud Next ’20 is Postponed

Google Cloud is postponing its yearly flagship event, Google Cloud Next, to a date that is yet to be determined. Google Cloud Next ’20 was supposed to be organised in the Moscone Center in San Francisco from 6 to 8 April 2020. But due to the coronavirus crisis, Google initially announced in the beginning of March that it would turn the event into a digital experience. Now, a few weeks later, also the digital version of Google Cloud Next ’20 is postponed until further notice.

Google Cloud Next '19 San Francisco

The coronavirus crisis is hitting hard on tech events worldwide, with all major in-person events for the coming months being cancelled & postponed all over the world. Also Google Cloud Next ’20, that was originally going to be held from 6-8 April 2020 in the Moscone Center in San Francisco. First, Google Cloud ‘reimagined’ the event in the beginning of March, turning it into a digital event called Google Cloud Next ’20: Digital Connect.

Going digital with Google Cloud Next ’20

The health and wellbeing of Google Cloud customers, partners, employees and the overall community is our top priority. Due to the growing concern around the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in alignment with the best practices laid out by the CDCWHO and other relevant entities, Google Cloud has decided to reimagine Google Cloud Next ’20, which will still take place from April 6-8.”
– Alison Wagonfeld, Chief Marketing Officer at Google Cloud

And for a tech company the size of Google, it seemed indeed suitable to convert the event into a digital experience. The last few years, Google Cloud Next events held in San Francisco were broadly live streamed and recorded already. Google always wanted to make the keynotes, breakout sessions and panel discussions of its Next conferences widely available.

Digital Event also postponed

Last week, the announcement came that also the digital version of Google Cloud Next ’20 is postponed until a date that is still to be determined. With the health of everyone as the top priority, Google is unable to ensure a safe organisation of the digital version of Next ’20.

Please know that we are fully committed to bringing Google Cloud Next ‘20: Digital Connect to life, but will hold the event when the timing is right. We will share the new date when we have a better sense of the evolving situation.”
– Alison Wagonfeld, Chief Marketing Officer at Google Cloud

Cloud Flagship Event

Google Cloud Next is the yearly flagship Cloud event of Google. The past years, the event grew exponentially in size. Last year’s Google Cloud Next ’19 edition featured more than 122 new product announcements, more than 35000 attendees and a mystery concert of Gwen Stefani herself at the Google Cloud Next ’19 very own festival.

We can only applaud the health measures taken by our partner Google Cloud and the different governments all over the world to keep everyone safe. Together with you, we hope that the coronavirus will soon get under control. Stay tuned for more information about the postponed Google Cloud Next ’20: Digital Connect event.
