I was determined to make 2020 my year, a fresh start and a challenging year! And I made it happen because last year I started to work as a Junior Digital Marketer at Devoteam G Cloud Benelux. In this post, I’ll reflect on my first year at Devoteam G Cloud Benelux & what are the key reasons I decided to join.
After high school, I had a thousand interests, but it was a logical choice for me: I would study Digital Marketing. A bachelor’s degree later I was there. “And now?” Blessed (or cursed, it’s how you look at it) with a good dose of “Let’s do this!”
I soon started with an internship where I met Liesbeth. She was in charge of all the marketing activities in a startup & I loved to work with her. After a while, I thought: great, but I need to kick off my career. So I started to work as a Marketing Manager in a small startup. It was a challenge to push myself to learn not only the skills needed for this role but also to keep up-to-date about all the new trends.

I felt little room for professional development in my previous job and I wanted to step up my Marketing skills.
First interview o’clock
About a year ago I walked through the doors of Devoteam G Cloud Benelux in Brussels for my first interview. Whether I was actively looking for a new job at the time? No not at all! I still remember when Liesbeth called me 2 months before, my current Marketing Manager, and told me “Hey, do you want to work at Devoteam G Cloud Benelux?”. Liesbeth always talked in such a positive and exciting way about premier partner Devoteam G Cloud Benelux so when she told me the position was open, I didn’t wait any longer. I had also seen the vacancy on my LinkedIn feed and thought I could “tick off” many of the requirements and therefore decided to go for the first interview.
& then the next interviews
From the start, I felt very welcome here thanks to Liesbeth. I increasingly saw myself fit into the role of Digital Marketer at Devoteam G Cloud Benelux. After my second and third talk with Jeremy and Valon, I saw it all for me because this position gave me the necessary variety, challenge and the growth opportunities that I was looking so hard for at the time.

One year later & a lot has happened
Within Devoteam G Cloud Benelux there is room for development, challenges, and personal growth. 3 aspects that I find extremely important and missed in my previous job. You get the opportunity to work on different inbound marketing campaigns and to make a difference.

I love that marketing gives you the opportunity to be so creative but also so strategic at the same time. You have the opportunity to come up with these really great campaigns, emails, etc., and it’s so great to see your work come to life.
Just do it
What lesson do I want to pass on to everyone who is at the start of their career? You stand in the way of your own growth if you stay in your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to try new things! Whether it’s testing a new campaign or making a big career move, you never know how things will work out, so it can’t hurt to try it!
