His day-to-day is divided between client meetings, where he analyses security challenges and proposes effective solutions to Devoteam’s clients. Additionally, he is dedicated to ongoing projects, deploying tools, delivering trainings and conducting comprehensive security testing.
An unpredictable journey to success
Mauricio did not follow a conventional path to his current position. After studying history and working in the maritime industry, he found his passion in data engineering and, subsequently, cloud security. With unwavering determination and dedication, he has established himself as an expert in cloud security in Devoteam G Cloud Spain, where he has led several projects.
Dynamic challenges and daily excitement
For Mauricio, the best part of his work is the dynamic nature of it. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities for growth. From client meetings to ongoing projects, his work is anything but monotonous. Moreover, valuable interactions with clients and experienced professionals have allowed him to rapidly grow and learn by leaps and bounds.
Leading projects and collaborating with teams
Among the real projects Mauricio has worked on, his participation in the implementation of Cloud DLP at a leading company in the food sector stands out. This project required close collaboration with the client’s internal teams and a deep knowledge of the environment to define the right strategy and ensure a successful implementation. In addition, Mauricio has conducted security audits in Google Cloud environments, participated in re-architectures to improve security and provided specialized support to help clients strengthen their security posture.
On a day-to-day basis, he performs a variety of activities, including:
- Chronicle SIEM implementations.
- Development of forwarders in Linux environments.
- Ingesting security sources through forwarders, APIs and feeds using Python and JavaScript.
- Creation of use cases and rules using Yara-L.
- Development of dashboards using Looker.
- Creation and modification of parsers using Logstash.
In addition, he has experience in:
- Chronicle SOAR implementations.
- Creation of playbooks.
- Integration with other sources through APIs.
- Development of dashboards.
In the Google Cloud area, his knowledge and skills include:
- Cloud Armor (WAF) deployments.
- Cloud DLP deployments.
- Use of Security Command Center for demos, automated alerts and usage analysis.

The road to specialization: Navigating Google Cloud Certifications
Currently, Mauri, as he is called by the colleagues at Devoteam G Cloud, has several certifications such as ACE, Cloud Architect, Cloud Security Engineer, Digital Leader and has just been certified as an Authorized Trainer. His goal is to add 2 ⁄ 3 more certifications before the end of this 2023.
The next challenges will be: obtaining Cloud Network Engineer, Cloud DevOps Engineer and Terraform Associate certifications.

To get certified, the best thing you can do is stick with the Google Cloud console, try out the different services and try to understand the basics of the cloud before getting into the details.
