¡Sneak peek! Meet Jesús 👇

What is a typical day like for a Development & Deployment Manager at Devoteam G Cloud?

A typical day starts with a good breakfast and a quick glance at the schedule and emails. My days usually involve meetings with clients, where we explore sales opportunities and manage ongoing projects.

Additionally, I spend time in internal meetings, ensuring that all the teams I oversee are aligned and ready to tackle any challenges. I provide the necessary support to cultivate a collaborative and efficient working environment.

Could you share some examples of projects you’ve worked on?

One of the most notable projects was a migration of over 12,000 users. Imagine the scale! We migrated users from one Google Workspace console to another, which housed around 60,000 users. It was a significant challenge, but we successfully completed it without disrupting our client’s business.

Oh, and I can’t forget to mention my favourite projects. Those are the ones that have a bit of everything: large-scale migrations, numerous trainings, and ultimately providing excellent customer support alongside our amazing team.

How do you collaborate with other teams or departments within Devoteam G Cloud?

My main task is to provide technical support to the sales team when they encounter technical queries from clients. It’s like being the ‘expert in the shadows’.

Sometimes, I also find myself working with the Google Cloud Platform team, where we support each other. They may need assistance with Google Workspace, while we occasionally require their help with infrastructure or client data management issues.

Here, we work together as a well-synchronised team, each doing their part to keep everything in balance. Coordination at Devoteam G Cloud is key!

What advice would you give to someone aspiring to become a Development & Deployment Manager at Devoteam G Cloud or in general?

“The key is in the desire and effort. Listening to those with more experience is crucial for progress. The combination of ambition and constant learning opens doors to any position.”

How did you get to this position?

My journey here has been a gradual process over several years. I started as a Google Workspace support technician at Devoteam and, over time, took on more opportunities and responsibilities.

From managing the support team to overseeing the deployments and migrations team, and now, at present, I am in charge of all the Workplace teams. It has been a steady progress, one step at a time, that has brought me to this point.

What’s the best part of your job?

The best part is the interaction with the team and clients, combined with the opportunity to dive into technical aspects when needed; it’s what I enjoy the most.

What are the most challenging aspects of your job as a Development & Deployment Manager and how do you overcome them?

The challenge lies in balancing workloads, ensuring successful projects and satisfied clients. I know my technicians in depth, and I assign projects according to their skills to overcome economic challenges at the end of each project.

Can you describe a project you have worked on and the steps you took to complete it?

Recently, I led a project that was a complex migration involving the transition of around 2,500 users from the O365 environment to Google Workspace. This process was meticulously divided into three crucial phases, each designed to minimise any negative impact on the company.

In the first phase, we delved in with a small group of users, mainly from the IT department. Once this stage was successful, we moved on to the second phase, migrating around 10%-15% of the users. Finally, we concluded the project by migrating the rest of the company in the third phase. The phased strategy allowed for a smooth transition and avoided any major disruptive impact.

After each migration phase, we didn’t stop there. We conducted detailed communication and collaboration training for the newly migrated users, thus reducing any emotional or performance impact due to the change. This tactic was essential to ensure that the adaptation to the new environment was as seamless as possible.

And lastly, once the 2,500 users were migrated and well-instructed, we initiated the support phase. We established a dedicated channel where users could communicate to resolve any doubts or incidents that arose. Post-migration support is crucial to ensure a complete and satisfactory transition for all involved.

Now, regarding the challenges of my role, balancing workloads and achieving the best economic results are constant challenges. However, with organisation and a deep understanding of my team, I strategically assign projects to achieve perfection. The key is to know each member’s strengths and distribute tasks effectively. Working together for project success is always the goal!

What challenges emerged during your recent project and how did you overcome them?

Every project is a new challenge because every client is unique.

One of the challenges that comes up more than once is time! Sometimes the client wants things to be done “right now”, but we count on our time to ensure the best execution of the project.

The key to overcoming this challenge? Communication! We talk a lot with the client, seek a middle ground where both parties understand each other, and usually, we always reach an agreement that benefits everyone.

Your job in 1 sentence?

Control, organization and the pursuit of perfection.

These awards are an internal award from the EMEA G Cloud pillar at Devoteam. It’s an honor to be recognized by my co-workers at this exciting annual ceremony, and it’s definitely one of those moments that make being part of the G Cloud family so special!

How would you describe your team? How do you move together?

We are a young and energetic group, always willing to learn and with the ambition to improve ourselves in every project.

We all move together in the same direction, we know our goals and how to achieve them. To achieve perfection, we support each other. There is always someone ready to help a colleague in trouble. Here, teamwork is the key to success.
